Ahtna, Chitina Sign Declaration of Friendship

After working collaboratively since 2012, Ahtna and the Chitina Native Corporation signed a Declaration of Friendship on May 9.

“The Ahtna and Chitina relationship has been a very special one for both Ahtna and Chitina,” the declaration states, “… two corporations (that) have a cultural and familial relationship that goes back thousands of years.”

The two corporations entered into a memorandum of agreement five years ago to work together in land planning and mapping, and to meet regularly and share information “for the benefit of our people.”
